Apparently when they asked him what his favorite color was, he said green. Ok, normal enough. But then he thought it would be necessary to tell them that Daddy's favorite color is orange, and Anneliese's favorite color is pink, and Dr. Z's favorite color is purple, and Another Nathan's favorite color is blue. Some of which is true, some of which is probably not... and none of which was asked.
(When they asked him his favorite thing to do, he said talk and say words. Yes, based on that last response... clearly.)
So despite my half-cringe at the thought that our kid is clearly (and self-admittedly) the class chatterbox, I thought that if he's so focused on what other people like, then we should run with it. Talk about what makes other people happy and sad. Try to teach him that other people have feelings! Introduce the concept of empathy! I went into good-mommy mode... this is a Learning Opportunity! Let us embrace it!
So.
me: Nathan, what's your favorite thing to eat?
N: Hmmm. Applesauce and popcorn, I think.
.....(So cute when he says I think!)
me: And what about Daddy?
N: Salad! Right?
.....(Also so cute when he asks right?)
me: And what's Mommy's favorite food?
N: Cookies.* Brown circle cookies.
......(wait... what?)
{facepalm}
*I have to ask, because I know you'll all be disappointed if I don't: is he calling me fat? Why yes he is.

Now from whom would he have learned to be a chatterbox? From Mark, right?
Ha! I love that Dad's favorite food is salad and Mom's is cookies!
Yes. Um. I did not love that part. Hence the end of my good-mommy effort at broaching the concept of empathy. :)
LOL! You never know what those two-year-olds will say!!
That's great!
*Note to self: eat those hoards of peanut butter M&Ms while Finn is napping.
