Yes, that's right. He's 18 months old and has never seen snow until today. (It's North Carolina. Today we have half a foot of snow, Thursday it's supposed to be 60 again.) Remember last weekend when I said that winter is a total bummer, even snow? Yeah... that was before I realized how cute Nathan would look in the snow.
Seriously, it does not get much cuter than this. Sure, I'm biased... but I am also right.
It was pretty deep, at least by our standards. I like how small Nathan looks in the picture below, with all the snow and trees around him. And you can tell he is more than knee-deep in it. (Don't worry, like good Carolinian redneck parents, we wrapped his new shoes in plastic walmart sacks before we took him outside. Classy, huh?)
Nathan looked at Mark like he was crazy when Mark even hinted that it might be fun to touch the snow.
He had a few moments of bright-eyed wonder...
...before, like a true southerner, he decided that enough was enough.
(That last picture also gives a clear shot of his sack-feet, since I know you were desperate for another reason to make fun of us. Don't feel bad, we can take it. I mean, did you see how cute our kid is? Totally worth the mocking on the sack-feet.)

How fun! And Nathan is so adorable! I love his coat. :)
We only got a "dusting", so I'm not sure if I'm gonna consider that Isaac's first snow...
Plastic bags are SO cool. They go way back in my heritage. There's a picture floating around in our family that was taken about 20 years ago, and my dad had blue plastic Winn Dixie bags on his feet. Priceless. (But you know what, they're even more cool on Nathan!!! He's sportin' them!)
You guys are so funny! I love the grocery bags - my parents used to do that to Jill and me when we were little too. I mean, what kid in NC actually has REAL snow boots?!?! LOL On another note, Nathan is absolutely adorabe. :)
I live in MN and this winter I almost had to resort to plastic bags for Ethans feet (his boots kept falling off)...instead his snowsuit pants were long enough that I was able to twist tie them at the bottom...now that is redneck!!! Do what you have to do. And Nathan is adorable in the snow....can't even believe you have a winter coat with a fur hood for him...that is amazing. He is too cute Erin!
Hey Erin, LOVE the bread bag feet. The girl sin my office from Ohio think I'm crazy because when you're from the south, this is what you use when it snows. Who ever heard of buying boots for snow once a year?!?! I'm glad you guys had a blast!!!!
For not getting a lot of snow, you sure know how to dress Nathan for it. Fur hat. Coat with fur hood. Mittens with clips to keep them attached to his coat. And, yes, bread bags on the feet. When I was a kid, I remember our boots not having decent liners, so Mom would put bread bags on our feet before we put our feet into the boots. Are we all rednecks, or just really practical?
I saw thos pics last night and I love them...I especially love the Wal-Mart plastic bag/boots! That's soooo Ken Bumgarner...I remember doing the same to you guys. Yep, you'll make a Carolina redneck out of him yet. Love ya!
yay! how fun!!!
Well, Aashini hasn't really seen her first snow yet (unless you count seeing it out of the window at the airport) and I doubt she'll see snow anytime soon :)
Great pics! Looks like fun!
