That's right: OUR DRYER DIED TOO. And it has gone to live in recycled-appliance heaven with the washer. Clearly the dryer couldn't go on living after the washer had died, but was able to hold on just long enough for us briefly consider ourselves done with appliance shopping and delivery fees. Good timing, you two. Thanks.
This morning our younger and hotter dryer arrived and seems quite happy with the handsome washer she's standing next to.
And our laundry room has taken a distinct cosmetic slant towards modern. (As long as you ignore that drying rack over there to the right. Come on, it's more modern than a clothes line, give me a break.) If you don't think this looks very modern... you should have seen it before. :)
Note to the dishwasher, oven, microwave, fireplace, water heater, fridge, or any other appliance in our house which might be tempted to fail before the end of 2010: don't even think about it.

Honest to God, you should be a comedian.
I used to read WTRFG to my students. Great book. All the other teachers would tear up at the end. Not me. I found joy watching which kids I could make cry. I'm such an awesome teacher.
So glad your new dryer has a nice rack.
If your dishwasher breaks, just tell Mark that break time is over and he needs to get back to work.

kendra -- good thought, we had it too. what we bought didn't qualify though (not for the tax credits this year either).
oh bummer. we might be in the market for a new W/D soon. how did you pick your dryer? (your washer post was helpful!)
hmmm. There wasn't nearly as much science in our shopping process this time, since I was already sort of exhausted from the washer. We knew we wanted a door that opened down instead of out, and we wanted something close to 7 cubic feet (to allow the "colossal" loads from our washer to still dry quickly), we wanted multiple heat settings, and the option to air-dry with no heat, and of course a wetness sensor. We came down to two within our budget that met our needs, and went with this one because it was a little bigger inside, and the drying rack was an added bonus. :) does that help?
Wow you somehow made laundry seem...well, dirty. :)
emily and rox - thanks. I aim to please. :)
